MIKURU IS OUT

Took Mikuru out of packaging to join the other brigade members. Now to hunt down Kyon and Itsuku to finish the SOS Brigade.

Haruhi can't wait to fondle Mikuru as usual....

Here is how the full line of Figma's from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya should look like:

Itsuku has just been released in Japan, Kyon should be arriving soon. I'll wait a few months before ordering.

Here is another pic of my favorite idol, Tina Yazuki: **sigh**

BBQ / MUGEN

Family annual BBQ happened this Saturday. Hotlinks, sausages, squash, prawns, oysters, corn...lots and lots of dessert. I'm so bummed I forgot my camera. The weather was overcast and cool... I loved it. Although it would of been a better scenery if there was more sun. I'm not complaining.

Also picked up a Mugen style EG9 front under spoiler for the car. Polyurethane material makes it more durable for daily use. I still kept the WWRS lip in case I get tired of this one. For now..I love the new look. So clean, and works with the lines of the car.

I keep saying it's the last thing I'd do....but something always comes up. This should be the last thing....the car is such a money pit...arggggghhhhh.

PET PEEVE ** AIR MAX 95 CHILI ** HOT WEATHER

One of my pet peeves.... is something I am going to extend from my buddy Darren's blog from July 12th (never returning your calls) "people who don’t return your messages, or say they will call and never do."

I make it an effort to return your call if I missed it. So to extend this peeve into the cyber age... "people who dont return or acknowledge your emails". People have enough time to always check their Myspace pages...or Facebook...but never enough time to even respond to a simple email or acknowledge their receipt. If you ever ordered something online, and have sent an email on the status of your order, you would like a prompt response correct? So why not return that favor and respond to your emails or acknowledge them. A simple answer goes a long way.

Anyways, enough ranting, my good friend Darren has found a pair of Air Max Chili reissues for me:

I will get pics of this when I pick them up from Darren.

In other news...more ranting.... I hate hot weather. Seems all this week, temperatures will reach close to 90 degrees near the bay. I start whining when it gets to 80 degrees. Anything higher, I get annoying. Luckily I have invested in a portable a/c unit. Time to blast it once again.

LAZY SUNDAY

Haven't had a Sunday where I got to sleep in and be lazy all day. Woke up at 9 am by habit. Ate some food, went back to sleep until 3pm...hahahaha.

Popped open the new Yuki Nagato figure and posed it with Haruhi. 2 of 5 of the SOS Brigade finished. Waiting for Mikuru's release late this month and will probably pre order Itsuki and Kyon to complete the Brigade.

Did anyone watch the Olympics this weekend? 2 great events. Men's Basketball USA vs. China and Men's 4x100 Meter Freestyle Swimming. Taking gold away from France with a half body lead comeback made it pretty damn exciting. Congrats team USA for taking gold in that event.

....few more hours..and back to work we go.

08.01.08 - 08.09.08 RECAP

08-01 -- Friday night, hung out with the guys for a late dinner out in Berkeley. Soju and beer got in the mix. Went over to Top Dog... greatest hot dogs ever. Highly recommended if in the Berkeley area. Buzzing most of the night...great start for the weekend.

08-02 -- Saturday night, my buddy Jon's birthday. Started with a prime rib dinner at Claim Jumper's. Ended the night in Santa Clara mission accomplished (Jon got fuked up!). Had about 7-9 shots of Soju, a few beers and ended the night with Jon's unfinished line up of shots. (took 1 of 3). Liquid Cocaine. (Bicardi 151, Yager, Goldslauger). Never again will I drink that. Buzzed after the shot... allergic to Bicardi...had to chill.

08-03 -- Sunday afternoon. After a short time resting, headed over to my college friend's Beer and Food pairing. His passion is beer, and he brews it himeself. His other passion is to start his own resturaunt or brewery. Had a 5 course food and beer pairing. Menu as follows:

Great food....and great beer. Will definitely attend his future events. Course 3 was my favorite. Im a fan of the darker beers. Once again...slightly buzzed, but relaxed after the 5th course. Spent time with great company. Great weekend...but I'm sure my liver hated me for it.

Here is also an update on the Otaku side of things. Picked up issue 1 and 2 of the Max Factory Figma line up of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya line.

Yuki Nagato

and Haruhi Suzumiya

Awesome figures. Mikuru Asashina is on pre order and due in at the end of the month. 3 of 5 sOs Brigade will be complete (^_^)

On another note, thanks to my good friends, I got to pick up the Comic Con exclusive Mighty Muggs of Iron Man, Commander Gree and Fertility Idol. They stood in line for me while I was on the way down for Comic Con. The figures sold out on Friday of that week. So far my collection is of:

Am I crazy? I still feel like a kid. :o

SHORT VACATION -- COMIC CON 2008 PART 3

...so many things to look at, so little time. Comic Con was way too crowded on Saturday. Shoulder to shoulder traffic got really annoying at times. Here's a few highlights for me:

Cosplayers....lots of them. Especially Star Wars. I believe these guys are in the 501st Legion. More info at www.501stlegion.org. Recruits for this organization is hard as your costume has to be movie quality before you get initiated. These are the elite of the elite of the Star Wars nerds. I bow down...as I hope to join th 501st Legion someday. ....someday...hahaha.

Figures.... lots of. I wish I had space and money for all of them.

Here is the lifesize Jedi's from the new upcoming Clone Wars movie.

Mighty Muggs. I am currently collecting Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Now that they released Transformers and GI JOE, I want to cry.

Life sized Iron Monger!!!!!! BADASSSSSS

..cant have a lifesized Iron Monger without a lifesized Iron Man.

Figures from Good Smile Company Japan. A few from the Melonchaly of Haruhi Suzimiya anime. One of my faves:

a really cool figure. Don't know where it came from.

another nice one from Good Smile

ummm.....not sure what to say about this one. hahahahaha

...along with the exhibition hall, I went to check some of the Panels also. A few that I checked out are the Innovative Directors Panel, Kevin Smith Panel, Lost Panel and Terminator Salvation Panel. Some of these panels I stood in line for about a good hour and half just to get in. All located in Hall H, these panels are nuts. I would definitely recommend seeing Hall H panels if you ever decide to visit Comic Con.

Innovative directors panel. Kevin Smith (Dogma, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, etc.), Judd Apatow (40 year old virgin, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Knocked Up, Step Brothers, Superbad), Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300), and Frank Miller (Sin City, The Spirit).

The great Kevin Smith. Very funny and down to earth guy.

Seth Rogan!!!! He's starring in Kevin Smith's new movie coming soon...

Lost's producers with special guest Matthew Fox (Jack)

Terminator Salvation cast (minus Christan Bale). They showed an exclusive trailer...and it looks awesome.

Common....from the cast of Terminator Salvation.

Besides seeing the celebrities at the Panels... you can spot a few in the exhibition halls as well. John Cho and Kal Penn from Harold and Kumar...

Robert Smigel, the man behind SNL's TV Funhouse and my favorite.... Triumph the Comic Insult Dog!!!!

Comic Con will see me in future events. It feeds my nerdiness and pop culture fix. Although, I dont think I'll ever be driving down again. Flying is so much faster and easier. I flew back up Saturday night to get ready for the Weksos Meet the next morning. I am still recoving from exhaustion to this day. More in future blogs.

SHORT VACATION -- COMIC CON 2008 PART 2

...after about 6 hours into the drive, we arrived within the Los Angeles city limits. There was a stop that my friend Darren (holding the coffee) and I wanted to drop by. The place is called UNDEFEATED. The stores carry limited and exclusive run of shoes and clothing. They have 3 locations in Los Angeles, 1 in Las Vegas, and 2 in Japan. The next trip to Japan, I will definitely try to stop by the Tokyo location in Shibuya.

After our brief visit to Undefeated, we stopped by Irvine to grab a late lunch and made our way to I-5 torwards San Diego. Alvin and I already made our contribution to driving in the early morning and noon. Darren is now taking the duty of driving. As you can see, Alvin and I improvised and made our seats a little more comfortable for the last leg of our driving destination...

(side note: I was wearing my Nike Hyperdunks which Darren says has not been released yet??) In any case...they were super comfortable for the amount of walking I was due for in the coming days. The next 1.5 hour drive to San Diego became a 2-3 hour long wait in traffic due to an accident of a rollover big rig in the early morning. It caused delays on this stretch of I-5 for 10 hours. 3 of them which we were stuck in. Although I did wake up to see some massive boobs. ....

..nyuk nyuk. They were actually huge Nuclear stacks or domes on the side of I-5 near the coast. I still dont know exactly what they are...but there is 2 of them pointing straight up like a boob with nipples. LOL!

We finally arrived in SD in the late evening. The next morning we wake to grab a small breakfast. I got some Iced Green Tea and Apple Fritter from Starbucks.

....for once..Starbucks finally spelled my name correctly. After breakfast, we made our way to the convention center. Outside was a display of the soldiers from the upcoming movie: MUMMY --CURSE OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR coming out later this summer.

...stay tuned...for coverage inside Comic Con 2008!
